Chinese Inward Investor of the Year Award 2004

The 48 Group Club's ‘Chinese Inward Investor of the Year’ Award is Huawei Technologies (UK) Ltd.

The Award was presented on 31st January to Tim Mao, Managing Director, Huawei Technologies UK by Stephen Timms MP, Financial Secretary at HM Treasury. He commented "The New Year should always be a time to look forward with hope. China's recent economic revolution brings us hope both that China and the world will prosper together through better trading relations, and that China's success in tackling poverty and bringing forward an age of prosperity can be reflected in developing countries across the world.".

Tim Mao said when receiving the Award:

"It is a great honour to receive this Award on behalf of Huawei Technologies. It is not easy to step outside of China in the first place but we have received a great deal of help from Britain and we feel welcome here. Huawei Technologies looks forward to continuing to invest in Britain and we thank the 48 Group Club for setting up this Award."

Huawei Technologies (UK) Ltd, is a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, the largest telecommunications network equipment and systems solutions provider in China. Huawei Technologies employs over one hundred people in the UK at its London and Basingstoke offices. In December 2003 the company moved its European HQ to the UK because of the unique investment environment offered here. Huawei's vision for its business, its dedication and strategy to expand market opportunities and technical excellence, made it the strongest contender for this year's Award.

The new 'Chinese Inward Investor of the Year' Award reflects the growth of Chinese investment into the UK, and recognises the changing face of UK-China business. It aims to reward Chinese investors' enterprising spirit in 'going global' and their choice of the UK as an investment base.

The nominated companies are judged according to rigorous criteria. Focussing on the extent to which the investor contributes to both the British and Chinese economies, the judges considered the following factors:

• employment created
• technical and marketing expertise/innovation
• financial structuring
• potential for growth
• long term sustainability
• as a model for Sino-British partnership.

四十八家集团的‘年度中国来英投资商奖’授予华为技术(英国)有限公司

英国财政部财政秘书丁史文(Stephen Timms MP)于1月31日将该项奖颁发给华为技术英国有限公司的总裁毛天华。他评价道：“新年总是满怀希望展望未来的时候，中国近来的经济改革让我们希望中国和世界将通过更好的贸易关系共同繁荣，中国在解决贫困和迈向一个欣欣向荣时代所取得的成功可以在全世界发展中国家得到体现。”

毛天华领奖时说：“我非常荣幸代表华为技术有限公司，来领取这个奖。走出中国来开创新局面，绝非易事，但我们受到英国方面的大力帮助，我们在这里受到欢迎。华为技术有限公司期待继续在英国投资，我们感谢48家集团俱乐部设立这个奖项。”

华为技术(英国)有限公司，是中国最大的电信网络设备和系统解决方案的供应商-中国华为技术有限公司的一个分支机构。该公司在英国伦敦和贝辛斯托克(Basingstoke)办事处雇用了一百多名员工。在2003年12月，由于看好英国独特的投资环境，华为把欧洲总部迁到英国。华为对拓展市场机会和优秀技术的商业﹑奉献和策略的高瞻远瞩，使其在今年该奖的候选企业中胜出，成为获奖得主。

这项新的'年度中国来英投资商'奖反映了中国来英投资的增长趋势，并显示英中商务的变迁。该奖旨在奖励中国投资家，体现出'向全球发展'的企业理念，以及他们选择英国作为投资基地。

提名的企业根据严格标准进行评判。着重于投资商对英国和中国经济贡献的程度，评委考虑以下几个因素：

-  英中伙伴关系的模范
